It's impossible to get tired of this place. I could eat here regularly if I wouldn't make myself sick practically drinking their delicious hot sauces. The fish tacos are fresh & on par quality wise as many higher end restaurants I've ordered in. Blackened chicken tacos are equally as good. The staff is always friendly & the ordering process is easy & efficient. If you're a fan of hot sauces...this is your new haven. They have a hot sauce bar with a dozen choices and a dozen more in bottles available for purchase to take home. I usually buy a bottle of their popular "Smack my A** & call me Sally" hot sauce. For a mere $6 you can keep the burn going! *Appreciate the warning sign at the sauce bar that reads "No children allowed at hot sauce bar". One sauce is named "Death Wish" for a reason. The Sweet Chili sauce is delicious and light. Try the Asian Mongo sauce for fish tacos. Always clean & comfortable...and slammed at lunch time. Luckily they're open til 10 pm during the week nights which is an hour later than most local spots. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Enjoy!

Taco Tuesdays are by far the best deal in town!! Two large tacos, chips & a drink for $5.99?!?! Minder stand 12-1 & 5:30-7(ish) are very busy! The staff is excellent, ensuring that your drink is always full and that each customer is satisfied. The sauce bar has a sauce to suit anyone's taste buds! I love that they use emoticons to label the heat of each sauce! The decor is engaging and the music is as well. Note: if you want to spare calories, order you toppings "power lite". Reduced fat cheese, sour cream etc.

I have been to Tijuana Flats for Tacos Tuesday and their throwback burrito Thursday. The deals are pretty good and you get decent sized portions. It is just enough to split into two meals if I am not ravenous. I prefer the Taco Tuesday Deal though since I feel like you get more value. A few things make this place stand out. As some other yelpers have said, the first is the large selection of hot sauces in their hot sauce bar. There are many to try! The next is the good customer service, at least in terms of tending to your drink refill. The times I have sat down and eaten there involved the waitresses/waiters asking if I needed a refill on my drink multiple times, which was nice and convenient. Also, the place is decorated extensively and gives the place a special vibe. Overall, the food is decent, but the hot sauce bar and customer service make it interesting to try at least once. I prefer the nearby Chipotle over this joint.

It's a T flats-Mediocre food at a decent price. I made the mistake on going to this location (which is horribly difficult to get in and out of-unless you leave and exit by 22nd ave n) on taco tuesdaze. I do not eat beef or chicken or this would have been a great deal. Instead I ordered the fish tacos. They're always fresh and crispy. Not too shabby and probably the best menu item for this so so chain.

I just don't get it. I mean, it isn't the worst quasi-Mexican, Tex-Mexish food I've had, but it wasn't good by any means either. I came in on a burrito special Thursday and got the chicken burrito all the way. I thought it would be like all the other places where they make it in front of you, but that's not their deal here. What I got was what seemed like a tortilla that was from a package and not homemade warmed up and it was not very big at all served up with some stale plain tortilla chips... I'm sorry, but Chipotle, Moe's, and Lime do this food, and do it way better... Pass...

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 1 is the friendliest staff and previous visits to the place. My husband and I went there today to pick something up for late lunch/early dinner. I ordered a chicken burrito (which I loved in the past) and my husband ordered chimichanga. This was the first time (that I can recall) we were both asked a question to have an option with "extra meat, extra cheese" and we both declined and went with the "original." Well that was a mistake... We took the food to go. Wish my burrito was more toasted, but that's ok. What's not okay is how little of chicken and other ingredients was in the tortilla. I feel like the only ingredient I could taste was onion. Had to leave a lot of tortilla uneaten, because, you know, it was just tortilla... My husband mentioned the lack of filling as well. Terrible. I don't know why the way the food was made has changed, but I don't know if I'll give them more than one more try and that's just because I did like it in the past.

Super fresh and tasty Mex-American food. Their Taco Tuesday deal (2 tacos, chips and a drink for $4.99) is such a fantastic deal. We also really dig the guacamole and fresh pico de gallo. The jalepenos are fresh too - not pickled - and the chicken is organic/antibiotic and hormone free - trust me, it tastes much better. It can be hard to find a table, but the service is usually right on par and great.

Taco Tuesdays are pretty awesome and the chips and cheese is too. The burritos are better and chimmis are amazing. The cookie dough dessert is the best!! Good food and would continue to go. The price is higher then the value though.

This particular Tijuana Flats location is my favorite. They recently re-painted the interior and it still has the "artsy and hip" look, but it looks much nicer. The service is always fast and they have never messed up my order. I typically order a Chimichanga wet with chipotle and a side of queso for my chips. I switch between chicken and pork for my meat. My Husband prefers the steak. There is always a decent amount of meat and the food comes out hot and cooked perfectly. This is not my closest location, but it is definitely worth the drive.

I love this place! Go at least once a month.... Staff is friendly and always ready to help you out with refills and cleaning up. The sauce bar is great and my go to is the sweet chili hot sauce, goes great on my quesadilla and chips. They have the TOP queso of anywhere I've ever gone, I can't not get it. The banana empanadas and churros I've tried are ehhh, not bad but not near as good as the food. The place serves you quick too, appetizer is out within a minute or two and the food in about 5-10 minutes. Such a great place to go to when in town, great atmosphere and tv has sports on which I love!

I love tacos! I like most things, but my favorite item on the menu is Dos Tacos. You can get a choice of two tacos with a side of tortilla chips. I always get one beef hard taco and one chicken soft taco. They also offer lighter options for sour cream and cheese, which in my opinion are just as good. One of my favorite things to do is sample from their hot sauce bar. They have sauces that will burn your tongue off to sauces that are a lil sweet and a lil spice. The service is always on point. They are very attentive by checking to see if you need a refill or to take garbage out of the way. I've never had a bad experience and it is on my radar when I'm trying to decide where to go to eat. Also Tuesday is Taco Tuesday and it gets busy so keep that in mind, if you end up there on a Tuesday.

This place is GREAT! It was Taco Tuesday (They were SLAMMED!), we called our order in, got home realized that we hadn't gotten everything, called and told them and when we got back to the place someone was standing outside with our food and a coupon for a free appetizer and a free lunch! The food was great, the service was great, they were super nice! Could not have asked for more!

I fell into this restaurant recently and have been back weekly, 3 in a row now. The Tijuana sized burrito is just right... the Megajuana was a bit too much.... or perhaps I should have juiced my munchies with some Megajuana before tackling it. The sauces are what make me come back. I get the sauce on the back right and dribble a bit on my burrito as I go. Yum! I also really appreciate that the staff work the floor offering up refills and taking away trash.

I love, love this resturant and specially this location. When ordering, the food can be specified to your desire. I order half orders, which is prefect for me:). The staff never mind answering questions or suggesting things you might like. Rick, the general manager and the assistant managers Dee and Sam are always asking how they can help. The one thing with all the managers that is great is when we have a concern or a suggestion they listen. They always make use feel important and appreciated. I also see this with all their customers. The food can be hot, mild, or sweet. They have great deals during the week. Also, remember to sign up for their email, as they send deals over the internet often. We look for TF every time we go to a new town because the entire family loves the food. We've tried TF in NC and several places in FL. The food is always great. If you haven't tried TF yet, you are missing something great.

Mmmmmm...tasty, tasty queso... Delicious, casual burrito/quesdilla fare that you order at the counter and is brought, quick as a wink, to you by staff shouting out your name. And the staff wanders around to bring you drink refills. Yay! More yay includes the fact that they offer wheat tortilla and light cheese and sour cream options! Huzzah! It's still not health food, but it's better! And it means you can toss queso over the lot of it and not feel *as* guilty!

I'm not sure which location I went to, but our family hated the food. The food was terrible. There was only one person in our family of five that got something good. There isn't a very good selection of food to choose from.

What a great experience! The food was incredible and the sauce bar was a lot of fun to try different flavors. We even bought one flavor to take home. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

Only basing my review on burritos. 3 sizes but you have to ask what each size refers to since they don't show you the relative size in inches - only by name - confused yet? We were as well. The chicken and "stuffing" inside the burrito was extremely wet which meant that the chicken was probably soaking in water in back. Not a lot of food for the money, but the extremely attentive staff asking you for a play by play on how your meal is makes up for it. Still don't know if we tip the person walking around asking how our food is or not? Any help?

Service was crazy good here. There aren't servers, per se because you order and pay at a counter and the food is brought out, but the staff who delivers the food and checks on the sodas are pretty attentive! Prices are kind of high, but the quality and quantity I guess is mostly equivalent. My fave are the chicken flautas. They provide wheat/white options as well as using low fat ingredients like sour cream and cheese. Tijuana Flats is known for their hot sauce bar and you can even buy a bottle to bring home. My guacamole lacked any real flavor so I added some "smack my sweet ass and call me sally" which really gave it a sweet kick! Mmm!!

Decently priced food and great service!!! It is a fun, college-like and family-friendly atmosphere. Rec tijuana trio as app and we enjoyed the hot sauce bar. This place never gets old to eat at. Go taco Tuesdays!!!

I will always, ALWAYS crave their chocolate chip flautas. That's probably the biggest thing I miss about living in St. Pete, other than the Cider House.

I have been eating here for several years now and use to go to the 4th street location when I used to live in that area though have since moved and now frequent the Tijuana Flats location on 66th Street N. in the Tyrone area. The place is fine if you like southwestern/tex-mex food though it is not authentic Mexican. I enjoy the Taco Tuesday deal which is two tacos with meat filling for $4.99 plus tax. You can get ground beef, chicken or blackened chicken for this price or choose pulled pork or steak for an extra dollar. Tacos come with lettuce, cheese, onions, black olives, tomatoes and sour cream which I always pass on getting. I always get one in crispy shell and the other in a soft taco and I drink water. There are the usual soft drinks along with bottled beer and wine served in a plastic cup though no milk or juice. The menu features the usual tex-mex appetizers like tortilla chips with salsa, queso or guacamole or get the Tijuana Flats trio which is all three toppings with chips for less than four dollars. For entrees there are tacos, burritos, flautas, rice bowls, taco salads, chimichangas and Mexican pizza. Which I have tried and really didn't care for though I love the rice bowls, tacos and desserts. One of their desserts is six flautas with dark chocolate dipping sauce and its delicious! Overall I like this chain though wouldn't eat there a lot since the food tends to be a bit bland tasting though worthwhile if you don't care to spend a lot of cash. Oh and at the tyrone area location they always manage to hire the loveliest young ladies to work there. There happen to be three servers name of Katie and the blonde gal is my favorite because she's always so sweet! The one other thing I like here is the trendy décor of so many signed photos of both bay area and Hollywood celebs and pro athletes adorning the walls at all of the locations. Oh and please indulge yourself in the salsa bar for all of the various sauces. They are rated with a flat face, smiling face, bigger smile and wider one depending on the strength of each sauce offered. Tijuana Flats has a long standing loyal following of local patrons and the tourists eat there too! I have also seen some customers who have brought their dogs to sit and eat outside and the management is okay with it as long as the owner is there too. Though I'm definitely a cat person who would want to bring a cat to eat outside with me!

This location is extra busy on taco Tuesdays. They also happen to be close to the mall and that is a perk for this Tijuana flats location. I don't visit very often, because of my calorie counting these days, but i have not met my goal and it won't take me over the limit either. I love them just as much as Chipotle. The need for a real taco is a delight and paying more for real food is worth it. The ghost chili sauce is another reason I come. I can handle it in small doses and it helps to challenge your wimpy friends to a contest. The location boasts ample parking and overfill seating for those nights, such as taco Tuesdays or burrito Thursday.

Tiajuana Flats is absolutely amazing! We love love, love their tacos here. The biggest tacos I've ever seen, somewhere around 10" long, unless my wife has been exaggerating what 10" is for all these years. Lol. This place is awesome! We eat here at least twice a week. Great value, great food, and a ton of hot sauces to choose from. You can even order their tacos for take out and not worry at all whether they'll hold up to the drive home. We get take out from them all of the time and the tacos are NEVER soggy, they are as perfect as they are if you dine in. The staff is always great and very attentive. I take every guest we have visit to this place at least twice during their visit. They've all loved it. The sad thing is, we love their tacos (Dos Tacos), so much that we've never ordered anything else other than appetizers and churos! We've eaten here over 100 times easily and we have never had a bad experience. If you're craving Mexican or especially tacos, go here. They never disappoint! Added bonus, their sweet tea is the best in St Petersburg!

I really enjoy Tijuana Flats, though I'd consider it pretty much "fast food mexican". The prices are right, the internal décor is imaginative and wild, and the food is fresh and tasty enough. The service is always top notch, and the food is prepared VERY fast. What pushes Tijuana Flats from a mere 3-Star "A-OK" to a 4-star "I'm a Fan" is the 'world famous' hot sauce bar. They have the most dazzling array of hot sauces I have ever seen in a restaurant. All are set into the countertop and have push-pump spigots on top for easy dispensing. The sauces are all clearly labeled as to their heat level...and there's a LOT of them. The food here is not fantastic, lets be clear about that. It is DECENT. But you can really up the ante with the choice of hot sauce you use, so choose wisely!

Taco Tuesday! This Tijuana can get a little crowded with the law school down the street. Location is great, but parking can be overwhelming as it's also a cut through to get to the other side of the shopping center. Staff is always very friendly, management is helpful, refills come quickly and it's always clean. On Tuesday they have taco tuesday which is two tacos, chips and a drink for $5.99, and Thursday is the medium size burrito, chips and a drink for $5.99. Both are steals. If you've never been to a Tijuana before you may be a little overwhelmed. When you walk in you are greeted by a employee and they hand you the menu (try and pull it up online before you go if you can)- you kinda just stand around until your party has decided what they want to order. You then walk to cashier and place your order. The cashier is the one who refills your drinks. They ask you for your name and when your food is ready someone will bring your food out to your table, by calling your name. Also- you leave your trash on your table and they come around and pick it up. Someone usually walks around and asks if you need drink refills as well. Food wise- it's not super authentic mexican, but it is good! They have a salsa bar and you can get unlimited they range from mild to super hot... they even have a super hot sauce that you have to sign a waiver for if you're up for that.... All the sauces can be purchased to take home a bottle as well. If you've never been, I recommend it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
